Annabelle Agbo Godeau
What have you done with her? (Part one)
Curated by Alexander Pütz
Poster series for “You Might Also Like e.V.” and “apath. curatorial projects”. The first letters of the location of the exhibition form the basic motif. In this case “MW”, because the exhibition takes place at the Moltkerei Werkstatt in Cologne. The MW adapts to the color and form of the exhibiting artists.
Annabelle Agbo Godeau is a painter who creates her compositions from fragments she collects from digital and printed media. She uses motifs from film and photography that are anchored in people’s visual memory with their narrative structures and patterns and usually correspond to certain social expectations. Godeau’s work revolves around ideas of femininity and identity, questioning how a society clearly defines them. Many of her works are painted in a deep, dark blue that is repeatedly punctuated by orange rays of light.
